The Loss of a Fort McMurray landmark

I had the absolute privilege to be one of the few people to Interview Owen Erskine, owner of Mitchell's Cafe here in Fort McMurray Alberta. Mitchell's Cafe has been a staple restaurant here for many years and as it gets ready to close it's doors for good, many people are left wondering why.

To some Mitchell’s may have been some sandwich shop that served good coffee, but to the real ones, it was one of the only places in town to get real food that felt like it was made with care, served to you by someone who genuinely cared. People who visited Fort McMurray were often brought there to really showcase some of the down to earth, small town feel it can give off and they would laways leave wanting more.

In 2017 while filming Nerdvana: The Web Series with M’Guphynn Media, we featured Mitchell’s Cafe and the owner himself Own Erskine in episode 4.

No one knows what will fill the void that Mitchell’s left behind, but in the interview with Owen, he says that while he may be closing the cafe, he’s not leaving Fort McMurray behind.
